Let's be constructive for a second

This is a direct response to Joe Clark's comments on a previous post:

I've tried to make this blog a space where critique has been pared with creative ideas. You've critiqued my request for a mobile friendly trip planner (twice), but you haven't done the second part. I know you are more knowledgeable than me on this subject, so how do we get there? How do we create a mobile trip planner that respects human rights?

It’s platform-dependent. An iPhone app that strictly complies with programming guidelines is accessible immediately. Maps are a separate matter in all cases.

It isn’t really our job to worry about this, you know, unless you’re involved in some development project I’m not aware of.

I don't think we should be micromanaging the system, but I do think that we, the users, should care about the final product.

It's a lot like your advocacy on the subway station tile schemes issue. It might have seemed like a trivial issue, but it was fairly important when you consider the history and the objectives of the colour choice.
